The performing art of magic has a very long and mottled history. It has influenced scientists, artists, writers and filmmakers. It was exploited by charlatans and persecuted by zealots. Yet, it has endured and entertained millions over the years, from children to older and more sophisticated adults.
Many know Vanni Pulé as a man of magic, yet he is also a graduate in literature and an experienced visual artist. His line drawings were first published when he was 13 and, since then, he has studied under various artists and exhibited his works in a number of countries.
Now, he combines his obsession with illusion, mystery and deception with his artistic background and expertise in an exhibition that is currently running at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta.
In this exhibition, titled Misteri, Pulé showcases a number of paintings executed in acrylics and mixed media, exploring the various facets of the theme of mystery and illusion.
Misteri runs until January 4 at Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta.
