The triumphant manner that so defined many of Mattia Preti’s works will be the central theme of a lecture by Prof. Keith Sciberras.

During the talk, Mattia Preti – The Triumphant Manner: An Assessment, Prof. Sciberras will be assessing the main elements that have made Preti’s style so disc- ernible and relevant to the development of 17th-century art in Malta.

“This is the second lecture that the St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation is organising as part of the celebrations of Mattia Preti’s 400th birthday,” Cynthia de Giorgio, CEO and curator of the foundation, said.

Prof. Sciberras is Head of the Department of History of Art at the University of Malta and has published extensively on the subject of Caravaggio, Roman baroque sculpture and baroque painting.

The lecture is taking place on Thursday at St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, at 6.30pm.
