Reading about Sea Shepherd’s Brigitte Bardot and the jet ski incident reminded me to submit the picture taken at Xrobb l-Għaġin June 28. The tuna pens are too close to the shore and when swimming we had to put up with the dirty work boat. The sea became really dirty too; at one point really frothy.

Please note also the black smoke which was continuously being emitted.

It’s a pity that the majority of the Maltese people are still passive towards the environment. They are not realising they will probably not be able to swim in this beautiful sea in a few years’ time since it will be excessively contaminated. While swimming in Għajn Tuffieħa on a calm day a few days ago I could see bits of plastic everywhere.

The sea in Golden Bay is the usual murky greenish colour. It’s just the next bay after Għajn Tuffieħa. Why should the water at Għajn Tuffieħa generally be clear while that at Golden Bay is not? It makes me think that the only reason is the fact that Golden Bay is overpopulated with the massive hotel and restaurants there.

Għajn Tuffieħa will end up the same way as every year we see a small new piece of cement being added to the bar area. Just a little bit, maybe no one will notice!

Now we will have lidos in Sliema too. I am impressed with the effort being made to intentionally destroy the coastline and the sea itself.
