The first edition of the Rock the Rock (RTR) Music Festival is being held this weekend in Ta’ Qali.
The festival will boast a multi-stage set up: one dedicated to the metal genre, another to rock and another one to host various local bands performing varying genres such as alternative rock and acoustic sets.
Each day there will be a minimum of two headlining acts (one on each of the metal and rock stages) with about four local bands supporting them, for a total of around 16 bands per night.
The festival will also host several attractions such as two pro-wrestling shows per night, daily medieval re-enactments, artesian stalls, a beer garden, several food stalls and also a dedicated children’s area.
In line with the biggest international music festivals, there will also be a camping area for festivalgoers.
The metal stage will be headlined by Mayhem, Entombed AD and Vader over the three days, while 1970s legends Focus!, Ray Wilson (Genesis) and Lucifer’s Friend will headline the rock stage.
Other metal bands to perform are Martyrium, Dead Label, Saħħar, Declinethe Fall, True Lie, Loathe, Victims of Creation, Anima Mortua, Thy Legion, Insurgence, Bound to Prevail and Fallen Icon.
While the rock stage will also see Super Sponge Trio, Noogie’s Crew, 26 other Worlds, It Came from the Desert, Broken Design, Pyramid Suns, Native, 12th Ode and Black State Believers.
There are various flexible ticket structures available, including general admission, one-day passes, one-day all access passes, weekend passes and weekend all access. Camping options are also available, while children under 10 years of age enter for free.
The festival will start tomorrow, up till Sunday between the BOV Adventure Park and MFCC concert venue in Ta’ Qali National Park. Gates will open at 5pm on the three days.
