I would like to thank Alex Borg for what he had to say in my regard. It’s good to come across people like him who come out with ideas and suggestions to embellish San Ġwann.

I agree that the Association of Lyceum Past Students was very keen and enthusiastic to take over and look after the Tal-Prepostu chapel in Tal-Balal and its surroundings. As both mayor and deputy mayor of San Ġwann I tried very hard to have this dream of theirs fulfilled because I saw its utility but it did not entirely depend on me or the council.

However, I would like to point out that the chapel was restored thanks to the then Minister Francis Zammit Dimech and the Restoration Unit within the Ministry of the Environment. While the ministry provided the architects and the workmen, the council paid for the material used and the parish church funded the door and window.

It’s a pity that all that work and effort have come almost to nothing as this chapel is not being used any more.

The painting inside must be in a very bad state because the chapel is always closed. I stand to be corrected but I thought it was in the hands of the San Ġwann council but there has been no activity going on these past years.
