Last year the government paid €203,391 for the Minister of Finance and his Parliamentary Secretary to make use of a private jet four times to attend top-level EU meetings.

Answering a parliamentary question by Labour MP Anthony Agius Decelis, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said he had attended meetings of EcoFin and the Euro Group, while Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi had attended meetings of the Competitiveness Council and a conference of the Directorate General Enterprise.

Out of the original outlay the EU had refunded €174,891, the minister added.
