Reconciliation efforts in Libya are bearing fruit, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Tonio Borg.

Addressing the Foreign Affairs Council of EU member states, Dr Borg said Libyans were making attempts at collecting weapons from rebel fighters. There was also no sign of the police force being dismantled.

Meanwhile, the process of the release of Libyan frozen assets was being implemented effectively, releasing the desperately needed funds by the National Transitional Council to stabilise the situation, Dr Borg said. He added Malta reopened its Tripoli embassy and a number of visas to Libyans had since been granted.
