A Ferrari previously owned by not one but two celebrities is to go under the hammer next month.

The rare yellow Ferrari, whose previous owners include music legend Eric Clapton and radio presenter Chris Evans, is expected to fetch between £58,000 and £66,000 in an auction at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix.

It is part of a Classic Sale being held by Silverstone Auctions.

According to the catalogue, the 2003 Ferrari 575 Maranello was ordered new by Clapton and has only covered 10,000 miles.

“This timewarp and very rare car was supplied new to Mr Eric Clapton, who has signed the service book, then sold to another high-profile celebrity – Mr Chris Evans,” the description says.

“Thus today it is a very unique, low mileage and surely appreciating motor car with a distinguished provenance, once again representing great value at this guide price.”

Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: “It’s a relatively rare car anyway, it’s a Ferrari 575, of which they did not make many.

“Given it’s a rare car and given its very low mileage, it’s a desirable car in its own right.

“But if you add the fact it was ordered new and specified for Eric Clapton, then sold to Chris Evans, it makes it even more appealing – an interesting car with an interesting story.” Mr Whale said the Ferrari is one of around 50 lots in total, including 10 modern supercars and about 40 other classic cars. They will go under the hammer at the Classic Sale on July 23 in Silverstone, Northamptonshire – the weekend of the Silverstone Classic, expected to attract at least 120,000 visitors.
