The three-day fundraising mar-athon in aid of Puttinu Cares at the Marsa sports ground comes to an end today.

Thousands have been raised for the NGO which helps patients who need overseas medical treatment, as well as providing assistance for their relatives.

The activity, based around a football marathon, was launched by President George Abela on Friday.

The Marsa grounds have been turned into a hive of activity, with entertainment, children’s games, other sports events and live music on stage.

Puttinu Cares recently bought a property in Sutton, London, which it plans to demolish to replace with apartments for use by the relatives of hospital patients.

Contributions may also be made by telephone as follows: 5160 2007 (€10); 5170 2006 (€15); 5180 2008 (€25); and SMS 5051 7380 (€2.33).
