The bishops have urged Maltese believers to put their faith into practice and dedicate more time for God through silence and prayer.

In a pastoral letter being read out this weekend on the occasion of the declaration of the Year of Faith by Pope Benedict XVI, Archibishop Paul Cremona and Bishop Mario Grech encouraged believers to analyse their faith in God and get to know Him better through his teachings and by walking in His footsteps.

They explained that the word ‘faith’ had different meanings and was commonly used in the sense that someone places his trust in another. But the Year of Faith was about another faith: the act of belief and trust which exists between the believer and God.
