The security and risk management for one of the world’s most prestigious sailing races, the America’s Cup World Series, has been entrusted to a Maltese company.

Khiron Security was chosen from around the world to provide security and risk management services to the event.

The international sporting event is being held across four continents over two years, with the final race for the year happening this weekend in San Francisco.

The America’s Cup is sailing’s most prized international trophy, going back nearly 160 years, pre-dating the modern Olympics.

As the security consultants for the America’s Cup World Series, Khiron Security’s Event Safety Management personnel are deployed to venues across the world.

The Maltese security team is currently in San Francisco for the last event of the year before the races take a break over the winter. The races will resume in April next year in Venice.

The company has already successfully overseen the first six of the World Series races.

“The success of the first events is very encouraging and we look forward to the challenges ahead,” said Khiron Security founder and managing director John Muscat.

“Our risk management process defines the safety and security resources needed for each event. This allows us to draw up the event security plan, which details the safety and security measures to be implemented to mitigate risks to participating teams, staff and audiences,” he added.

Khiron commands a track record, providing security services across more than 15 countries. The company also provided security to the 5+5 summit held in Malta.

In Malta, Khiron Security has provided guarding services during the production of over 50 commercials, documentaries and films including Troy and Munich, as well as delivering close protection services to celebrities like Bill Gates, Madonna and Brad Pitt.
