As part of an animal awareness activity, children at the primary school of St Albert the Great College, Valletta, recently visited the Kitchen Garden and San Anton Gardens.

There they saw the pens which hold a variety of animals, including Shetland ponies, donkeys, cranes, and lamas, together with the type of food they eat and the way they are cared for.

The pupils also visited the swan pond, the herb and vegetable garden and the learning centre, which houses an ant farm and a model of the last indigenous Maltese cow.

The pupils were also greeted by President George Abela and the children presented him with a donation towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.
