The retail price index dropped by 0.16 per cent in July over the previous month, figures show.
The drop to 108.34 from 108.51 in June mainly due to a 5.63 per cent decrease in the clothing and footwear index.
The food index fell by 0.38 per cent and cheaper jewellery caused a 0.19 per cent drop in other goods and services.
Higher airfares saw the transport and communication index rise by 1.06 per cent.
The beverages and tobacco index went up by 0.35 per cent, because of higher wine prices.
The National Statistics Office said that, in July, the 12-month moving average rate of inflation was 2.25 per cent and the annual rate was 2.08 per cent.
