Two policemen sustained grievous injuries when they were hit by a car near Malta International Airport police station yesterday.
The driver, a 58-year-old Spanish holidaymaker, lost control of his Kia Picanto while driving out of the airport’s car park. He had earlier called at the police station to report damage to his car.
The two policemen sustained leg injuries, with one of them being wedged between the car and the police station’s front facade.
Both officers were taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
In another incident, a 35-year-old man from Żebbuġ was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a traffic barrier on the St Paul’s Bay bypass.
