Pharmacare Premium has appointed pharmaceutical market specialist Amin Awwad as general manager of its newly established company in Malta.

Mr Awwad joins the senior management of the company reporting directly to chief executive officer Bassim Khoury. During his 24 year career in the pharmaceutical industry Mr Awwad has worked with multi-national companies including Johnson and Johnson, IMS Health and Aventis, overseeing their sales and marketing operations. Prior to joining Pharmacare Premium, Mr Awwad managed his own pharmaceutical market research company.

Welcoming Mr Awwad to his new post Mr Khoury said: “This new appointment comes as a culmination of our efforts to bring in to the company some of the most experienced individuals within the European and MENA pharmaceutical markets. Individuals whose wealth of experience will serve only to take the company to new heights and ensure sustained growth now and in the future.”

Pharmacare Premium Ltd is a limited liability company which is currently in the final stages of construction of its offices and manufacturing plant in Hal Far, and plans to start operations in the first quarter of 2012.

In the short term, the company will be producing, packaging and releasing oral solid non-sterile dosage forms (tablets and capsules) primarily for the European market. At a later stage aseptically manufactured small volume parenterals (medicines taken or administered in a manner other than through the digestive tract as by intravenous or intramuscular injection) will be added to the product list.
