European Commissioner John Dalli was the envy of teenage boys across the globe yesterday.

Pamela Anderson, who is taking part in the UK version of Big Brother, took time out of her busy schedule to write Mr Dalli a personal letter, petitioning him not to delay the 2013 deadline on the sale of animal-tested cosmetics.

The former-Baywatch star let it be known she had even been tempted to write “Hello Dalli” or “Dear John” but had refrained from doing so in order not to detract from the seriousness of the matter.

Ms Anderson, a vegetarian, has represented the international animal rights group Peta in several campaigns and her letter to Mr Dalli was disseminated by the same group.

Her letter is likely to have tickled Mr Dalli. Whether it will be enough to push forward with the 2013 cosmetics deadline remains to be seen.
