Dingli local council, in collaboration with Alka Ceramics, held a six-session pottery course for children of all ages as part of its yearly summer activities for the younger residents.

One of the sessions was held at the Bank of Valletta head office in Sta Venera where the retrospective exhibition of ceramic artist Paul Haber was in its seventh and final week.

In a “meeting the artist” session, the children were told what contemporary and abstract art is and given an explanation on the techniques and types of firings that can be used to obtain the different textures and finishes in the exhibited works.

Mr Haber invited the children to give their own interpretation of his works and then the children were given clay to make their own creations.

The children have now been invited to display their works in an exhibition that will be held during the Malta Ceramics Festival in Attard which ends today.
