Nationalist Party leader Simon Busuttil yesterday announced changes to his shadow cabinet which saw Claudio Grech, a first time MP, being given the health portfolio.

Mr Grech was previously respon-sible for planning and simplification of administrative processes. Joseph Cassar, previously responsible for health, has now been assigned the education portfolio.

Clyde Puli takes over family and social solidarity, formerly tasked to Chris Said, and relinquishes the education portfolio. Dr Said was elected party general secretary last June.

Ryan Callus is responsible for the portfolio on planning and simplification of administrative processes and relinquishes the EU presidency 2017 and EU funds.

Antoine Borg, elected as an MP last week in a casual election after Lawrence Gonzi resigned from Parliament, has been given the EU presidency 2017 and EU funds portfolio.

Stephen Spiteri is now responsible for the rights of persons with a disability in addition to the employment portfolio.

Albert Fenech has been assigned the research and innovation portfolio.

Announcing the changes to the shadow cabinet, Dr Busuttil said: “Today’s changes to the shadow cabinet will enable all PN MPs to actively participate in the work of the Opposition.”
