Labour Party Deputy Leader Anġlu Farrugia has withdrawn a motion he had presented to the House on behalf of the opposition two years ago following meetings he had held with Finance Minsiter Tonio Fenech and a number of corrections made by the government.

The motion criticised the government for shortcomings in public tender procedures and on mistakes in legal notices.

Dr Farrugia said that he had been informed by the government through an e-mail of June 22 that the EU directive on public tenders had been transposed into Maltese law, meetings had been held with EU representatives and corrections had been made to various legal notices.

Dr Farrugia said that consequently he was withdrawing the motion as there seemed that there was an agreement on these complaints and remedies taken.
