The Maltese owner of an impounded tanker yesterday obtained a court order stopping the authorities from emptying his ship of its cargo of fuel.

Pierre Darmanin, the owner of MV Silverking, had requested an injunction to stop the ship from being emptied.

The ship was impounded last week following allegations of illegal fuel transfers but there was no evidence to support the allegations, Mr Darmanin said.

He is holding the authorities responsible for any loss of business.
