Orlando City have announced they have held talks with Brazilian midfielder Kaka ahead of their debut season in Major League Soccer next year.
Orlando will join MLS alongside fellow new franchise New York City when the 2015 season begins next March, and they are keen to make Milan star Kaka their first signing.
“Orlando City Soccer Club is in advanced discussions with Kaka,” said a statement from the club.
“Pending completion of the potential player agreement, Kaka would join Orlando City SC in January 2015 prior to the Club’s first season in Major League Soccer.”
Last month, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani indicated there was a “99 per cent chance” Kaka would remain with the Serie A club next season, but the 32-year-old has a clause in his contract which allows him to terminate it this summer, one year ahead of schedule.
Kaka, a 65 million euro signing for Real Madrid in 2009, returned to Milan on a free transfer last summer, and scored seven goals in 30 league appearances.
Earlier this month, New York City made their first signing when ex-Barcelona and Atletico Madrid forward David Villa put pen to paper.
