Artworks by established and aspiring artists, all priced between €9 and €99, are on show at the Taħt il-Mija (Under 100) exhibition being held in Valletta.

The exhibition aims to provide a space for newcomers to exhibit their work and to challenge established artists to create exceptional and affordable pieces, exhibition organiser and curator Marika Azzopardi said.

Sculptures, paintings and works in mixed media are all available for purchase.

Ms Azzopardi said the event’s 23 contibutors had been tasked with producing works that are “priced to sell” in a bid to make art more accessible, which she felt had become increasingly relevant as the recession had made purchasing art more difficult.

The exhibition aims to attract an audience that is not composed exclusively of “traditional art exhibition visitors”. It is being held at Palazzo de la Salle, Valletta, until May 16.
