A number of parking spaces had been reserved in the upper part of Ġlormu Cassar Avenue, Valletta specifically for tourist coaches and mini buses. However transport officials should try to control the situation in the area, which has become not only chaotic but also very hazardous at times. Downward traffic often has to drive in the way of oncoming traffic because of buses and coaches that hog the road.

Broken pavement fixed

Well done to the Birkirkara local station for fixing a broken pavement in K. Galea Street, following a complaint in this column. It is hoped such an example is emulated by other councils.

Radio drivel

The two gentlemen presenting the early-morning show on Radio Malta need to brush up their act. They evidently like the sound of their voice as they spend long periods of time chatting. Surely, commuters at that hour would prefer more music and less talk. But, then, they do call this the silly season, don’t they?!

Bigger rubbish pile

The rubbish situation in the Delimara area is going from bad to worse. Who is in charge of cleaning up the area? Those responsible should scour the place and give it a thorough clean-up. Only recently someone irresponsibly dumped a pile of boxes along with some pots in what should be a very scenic area.

Recycling skips vandalised

While the Kappara Administrative Committee together with the San Ġwann local council have, since July 1, 2010, left no stone unturned to ensure that the locality of Kappara will get pride of place for cleanliness and rubbish collection, the attached photo is what residents were faced with on the morning of June 30. This is what remained of five skips in the upper part of Birkirkara Road which are used to throw away waste for recycling. One questions how no residents noticed or heard anything unbecoming during the night.
