The authorities, especially politicians, are ever so quick to blow their own trumpets even when opening a mere playing field or a garden, which, of course, is not a bad idea. Unfortunately, more often than not, many such projects are then forgotten or, at least, not given the attention they deserve. Pembroke garden is a case in point. It is neglected, the water feature is dry and the grass is almost yellow.

Wrong sign

The beer advert featured here is stuck to the outside perimeter wall of the Attard primary school. Apart from the school itself, there is also a recreational area there also frequented by chldren. There is also some ‘outside gym’ equipment. In the circumstances, isn’t such an advert rather out of place, especially since it uses school property to boot? Who exactly authorised the sign to be fixed there? This was done about a month ago.

Illegal parking

Reports of illegally parked vehicles in St Paul’s Bay reach this column regularly. The photo shows a car parked illegally on the pavement in Sir Luigi Preziosi Street. Is it possible no local warden or police officer spotted it?

In the dark

Whoever took the time and was irresponsible enough to damage the light fittings in the Rabat garden deserves to be disciplined. On the other hand, those responsible to oversee the public place’s maintenance and safety must do their utmost to restore peace of mind to the public, especially those with young children. There is a number of light fittings that are damaged. Action please!
