The ERDF International Competitiveness Grant Scheme is one of five ERDF schemes which have been launched by Malta Enterprise to assist businesses willing to establish new markets or to introduce new services or products in an existing international market.  Moreover, the Scheme aims to facilitate the building of internal capacities within businesses with a view to encourage more enterprises to internationalise.

The aid intensity for items supported under this incentive scheme is set at 50 per cent of the eligible costs. Eligible costs are as follows:

Market Development (up to 50 per cent Costs include translation services; brand development and the design of branding material as well as costs for the international or national certification of products.

Engagement of Business Development Manager (up to 50 per centThe wage costs of a newly employed business development manager who is domiciled in Malta.

Marketing and Promotional Events (up to 50 per cent The scheme also part-finances costs related to the participation of eligible entrepreneurs in trade fairs and conferences dealing with target markets. These include costs of the rental of exhibition space and stands; stand construction services; international shipment of exhibits and travel expenses incurred per diem for participation.

The time-frame for projects which are eligible to benefit from this incentive is 24 months and the minimum project value (based on eligible expenses) must be at least €50,000. Furthermore, the minimum grant value per project is € 25,000 while the resultant maximum grant value is of €100,000.
