Competing in the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Isle of Man recently Nicola Muscat and Mark Sammut broke four national short course records.

Muscat set a record in the 50m butterfly when she clocked 29.75 which is 0.02 faster than her previous best. She placed 13th out of 21 swimmers in this event.

Her other new mark was in the 50m freestyle in a time of 26.70, breaking the previous limit by 0.40 of a second set by Talisa Pace last October in Germany.

Muscat qualified for the final and placed eighth.

Sammut set a short-course best in the 50m backstroke when he clocked 29.50 which is 0.51 faster than his previous record.

He placed 12th out of 17 swimmers in this event.

His second national record was in the 100m backstroke with a time of 58.62 which improved his previous mark of 58.86.

Sammut also took part in the 100m butterfly swim and did a personal best of 57.21 which is just 0.23 outside the Malta record held by Andrew Chetcuti.

Andrea M. Agius also took part in the 50m and 100m breaststroke when he clocked 31.75 and 1.09.16 respectively. These were his personal best times.

Agius qualified for the finals and placed sixth out of 16 swimmers in the 50m breaststroke and seventh out of 17 in the 100m breaststroke.
