The 52 Egyptian immigrants who landed in Malta last Saturday were yesterday evening deported on a flight back home.

Twenty-nine of the immigrants had been sighted in Qbajjar and another 23 in Manikata.

Throughout Saturday, conflicting reports were received, some saying that the migrants had landed here and others that they were trying to escape.

The migrants originally claimed they were from Palestine but they later admitted to being Egyptian. Their documents were obtained in collaboration with the Egyptian Embassy.
