A new set of cart ruts have been discovered in the Pietà bus lane/pedestrian priority zone. For a project financed by the EU’s Modus Fund, this lane has developed cart ruts that would put Clapham Junction’s ruts to shame. The Tourism Ministry should take note.

Speed humps (and why do you really need speed humps in a pedestrian priority zone that should have had a bus gate as originally suggested?) all ripped to shreds by wise-guys and wise-girls speeding down a lane they should not be in anyway. Oh, did I mention bus gates?

If thought necessary, would speed tables not have beenmore appropriate and quieter for the residents?

Overall, a feat of civil engineering shame. Can this lane be resurfaced as soon as possible and with material that will actually support a loaded bus?

After all, is it not a contractual requirement of Modus-funded projects to be maintained and used as stated for five years or were we just after the money? That is not such a bad thing for the economy, it makes economic sense, but if we build something no matter where the funds come from, let us: a) build it well andb) make sure we can maintain it afterwards. So people can use it.
