It seems that Tonio Fenech (PL Strategy: Mintoffian Economics, The Sunday Times, September 2) does not believe in our country’s development and achievements over the past 25 years.

Had he believed in them he would not try to convince people not to vote Labour using arguments from a different era. If our country is a fully fledged member of the European Union, how can one talk about bulk-buying and import substitution?

Our country needs leaders that truly believe in our country and our people; leaders that can give a direction to our country to face its future challenges. Fenech’s article is unfortunately based on scaremongering and arguments of the past.
