It’s a fact that music stimulates and engages the senses of babies, toddlers and young children. It does the same for adults of course.

However, introducing the young to music as early as possible helps them to be more attuned to the various facets of it and to help them respond to the sounds that they hear in a dynamic way.

The Manoel’s Toi Toi programme has become an essential part of life at the theatre.

So far the 022 concerts (for babies up to two-year-olds) have been very successful with great feedback from the parents.

The next concert is for three to five-year-olds (325) and will be an interactive session with live percussion and double bass, among other instruments.

The Toi Toi initiative was launched just seven months ago and many have enjoyed the high-quality events for the young.

“This series of informal concerts will be the start to opportunities that will positively affect our future generations,” says Rosetta Debattista, Arts Education Consultant at the Manoel Theatre.

These monthly concerts offer a rare opportunity for babies and carers to experience live music in a comfortable environment, where they are free to interact with each other and move around freely in a safe, colourful and stimulating space of the Studio Theatre.

• The next concert is being held on Sunday at 11 a.m. More details on the Toi Toi prog-ramme may be obtained online: www.teatrumanoel.com.mt.
