Marsaxlokk FC strengthened their ranks yesterday with the signing of Italian winger Modesto Valeriani.

The 20-year-old joined the Blues for a trial last week and impressed during Monday’s 1-2 upset to Ħamrun Spartans in a warm-up match with coach Winston Muscat moving quickly to offer Valeriani a contract.

Last season, Valeriani was on the books of Italian Serie C2 club Valenziana. He put pen to paper on a one-year deal to become the Marsaxlokk’s third overseas player for the upcoming season.

The others are Argentine winger Emiliano Lattes and French defender Florent Raimy.

At present, Muscat is also monitoring a Nigerian forward, Lawrence Abide.
