Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi yesterday inaugurated the new maritime headquarters of the Armed Forces of Malta as well as three rigid-hull inflatable boats that were co-financed by the EU.

Dr Gonzi said Malta had acquired more EU funds because it had a good track record of utilising the money to its full potential.

The projects cost €2.4 million. AFM Commander Martin Xuereb said more were in the pipeline including a new helicopter and premises near the airport for offices, accommodation and lecture rooms.
