A man who followed a nail technician from a Cospicua salon to her house in Birkirkara to steal €900 in cash was jailed for 37 months.

Amadeo Grima, 32 of Kalkara, who has another pending robbery case, pleaded guilty to having committed the theft on May 30.

Mr Grima and another person followed Ritianne Briguglio at about 8.20pm. When she parked her car, the two surprised her and stole the cash she was carrying.

Ms Briguglio recognised the accused because he had been to her shop where a relative of his was being treated.

He was also found guilty of relapsing and committing the crime during the operative term of a suspended sentence. He was jailed for 13 months for this robbery and the court ordered that a suspended jail term handed down in 2009 by Magistrate Saviour Demicoli becomes effective, adding another two years to the jail term.

Lawyer Yana Micallef Stafrace appeared for the man.
