A Georgian man was yesterday charged with trying to kill two fellow countrymen in an argument in the middle of Tal-Barrani Road, Tarxien, on Sunday evening.

Garegin Chekandarian, 44, from Swieqi, was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to trying to kill Vazgen Darbinyan and Ashot Boyajyan at about 7pm.

He also denied being in illegal possession of a knife, seriously injuring Mr Darbinyan and slightly injuring Mr Boyajyan.

Magistrate Anthony Vella granted him bail against a deposit of €5,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.
