The London-based World Avian Protection Authority (WAPA) has issued an extreme turbulence and lead cloud warning to all turtle doves and quail intending to migrate via the Maltese islands following the Maltese government’s decision to grant local hunters a one-month window of opportunity to wipe out both species during the breeding season.

Malta has been declared a no-fly-zone for all small avian species. WAPA recommends an alternative flight path via the Canary Islands.
