Famous Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja will hold a concert at the Granaries on July 9. Guest stars will be Lucio Dalla and Hayley Westenra. Prices have been announced starting from €35.

Now I ask if it is possible to record such a concert and release it on DVD so that we pensioners and bedridden oldsters could thus also have the privilege of hearing our beloved tenor.

Many other famous tenors have recorded their concerts on DVD which sold like hot cakes, such as Pavarotti, Domingo, Alagna, Carreras, etc.

I do not know if Mr Calleja is bound by any contract not to record such concerts on DVD. I hope not. Sales from the DVD could also boost local talent and maybe even benefit various institutions by percentage of sales.

I hope my call will not fall on deaf ears.
