Malta Enterprise is organising a practical introductory course to Arabic aimed at entrepreneurs operating in Arab-speaking countries or who are seeking business opportunities in the region.

Two-hour sessions will be held at the Kordin Business Incubation Centre between 6.30 and 8.30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday starting on January 30. The free course will run until June 27. The syllabus covers basic vocabulary and grammar and sentence construction. Later on, instruction will go into conversation and business language, focusing on subjects such as the nature, set up and aim of business negotiations and other related matters.

Progress will be monitored with periodic assessments, while a certificate of attendance will be provided at the end of the course to participants who attend at least 80 per cent of the sessions.

The course will be delivered by Naim Dhifi, Consular Officer at the Embassy of Malta in Tunisia, who also assisted Malta Enterprise in the development of the course structure.

The idea was first floated during the Libyan crisis and Malta Enterprise developed the course further to cater for the needs of those wishing to do business not only in Libya but in the entire North African region, which is currently offering a multitude of opportunities as a result of the Arab Spring.

Bookings for the course will be accepted until January 25. Only one applicant per company will be accepted as places are limited, though additional participants may be considered subject to availability.
