Malta will be represented by 10 athletes in six different disciplines at the upcoming Mediterranean Games, starting in Mersin, Turkey, next week.

In a statement issued last night, the Maltese Olympic Committee announced that its squad will be made up by Rebecca Camilleri (athletics), bowls duo David Farrugia and Stefan Farrugia, wrestler Adam Vella, shooters Brian Galea, William Chetcuti, Nathan Lee Xuereb and Eleonor Bezzina, swimmer Andrew Chetcuti, and weightlifter Rodmar Pulis.

Double trap shooter Chetcuti is the only member of the team to have a won a medal in previous editions of the Mediterranean Games. After placing third in Almeria in 2005, Chetcuti clinched a silver medal in Pescara four years ago.

The Maltese contingent in Turkey will be spearheaded by chef de mission Lucienne Attard along with MOC president Julian Pace Bonello and secretary Joe Cassar.

The 2013 Games get under way today week with the traditional opening ceremony and conclude on July 2.
