In a discussion about spring hunting, the president of the FKNK, Joe Perici Calascione, reacted to Carmel Cacopardo’s remark that if turtle doves and quail were not killed, they could breed at least four birds for every pair. He bombarded Cacopardo, asking him where he had found the theory, in which book.

Is it possible that the president of the hunters’ federation does not know that these birds make nest and hatch young once and quails can hatch up to eight or so?

How right Cacopardo was when he explained that if they were left to breed in spring it would be beneficial to the hunters themselves, as they could have more to hunt in the autumn.
