Thousands of music lovers rocked the Bay Arena last Saturday at the 10th edition of the Bay Music Awards.
Malta’s biggest artists hit the stage, alongside 89.7 Bay’s DJs, and performed to an energetic crowd.
The show included special live performances by Winter Moods, Red Electrick, Ira Losco, Airport Impressions and Christabelle.
Another highlight was the performance of this year’s Bay Kids Song, Today, by local artists Ivan Grech from Winter Moods, Christabelle, Rikki Lee from Gypsy Genes, Matthew James Borg from Red Electrick and Victorio Gauci from The Crowns. The song is available for download from iTunes in aid of the Kids of Africa Orphanage.
The evening started off with a fashion show put together by Carina Camilleri from models.com.mt. Models from the agency as well as those chosen from the 89.7 Bay Model Search wore new collections from Guess and New Look.
Thousands of votes were received via SMS, showing that support is growing for both established and upcoming local talent.
Joe Roscoe took home the Best Newcomer Award while the song Loving You by J Joy featuring Christina Novelli won the Best Dance Tune/Remix.
The Crowns bagged the Best Band Award while Ira Losco netted two awards: Best Song for The Person I Am and Presenter’s Choice.
The ‘Raise the Roof Award’ was also presented on the night. Artists and bands gave their all in performances aimed at getting the loudest scream from their fans. The volume and strength of the audience’s reaction was picked up and measured with the use of sensitive microphones and advanced technology.
Airport Impressions emerged as the category winner.
For those unable to be part of this year’s fun, the Bay Music Awards will be aired on One TV on December 25 at 3pm.
Voting for the Viewer’s Choice Award will also open during the first screening of the BMAs and will officially close at midnight on January 5. The winner will then be announced on January 13 on Dorian’s Breakfast show.
