The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority has just launched the first issue of the consumer magazine L-Għażla.
The main objective to inform and educate people about their rights and responsibilities as consumers
The magazine is currently being distributed all over the country and will reach all households by the end of next week.
Its main objective is to inform and educate people about their rights and responsibilities as consumers.
It is also aimed at local traders as it contains tips and best practice information on how they can build and generate consumer trust.
Furthermore, it educates traders about their legal obligations with the main aim of minimising consumer complaints as much as possible.
Information and education play a crucial role in ensuring that consumers are well equipped when they go out shopping to negotiate the best possible deals with traders.
As Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said mentioned during the magazine’s press launch, “L-Għażla is a tool that empowers consumers and helps them make the best buying decisions when they go out shopping”.
L-Għażla covers various subjects that should be of interest to Maltese consumers.
The topics of this first issue include, among other things, information on cosmetic products, product safety, tips on how to complain effectively, cases from the Consumer Claims Tribunal, advice on good commercial practices, a list of reduced medicine prices, as well as information on the new Trust Mark scheme, the Dolceta website and the European Consumer Centres.
The magazine is also aimed at young consumers as it contains a page specifically dedicated to children. This not only contains information on consumer rights written in a way that can be easily understood by children, but also games and a competition.
The public is invited to play an active role in deciding what information should be featured in the next editions of the magazine, which will be published quarterly.
