Mosta goalkeeper Omar Borg was yesterday suspended for two BOV Premier League games over remarks he made towards referee Glen Tonna at the end of his side’s 3-1 victory over St Andrew’s.

The veteran goalkeeper, who was shown a yellow card in the latter stages of Sunday’s game, was sanctioned by the Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner after his post-match outburst was highlighted in Tonna’s match report.

The two-match ban means Borg will miss Mosta’s last two games before the Christmas break, against Sliema Wanderers and Birkirkara.

Coach Ivan Zammit will also have to make do without Edin Murga for Saturday’s BOV Premier League match against Sliema Wanderers after the Bosnian forward received a one-match ban for four yellow cards.

Naxxar Lions defender Blazo Rajovic and Carlos Menendez Hevia, the Tarxien Rainbows midfielder, were also given one-match bans after collecting four cautions.

Rajovic will sit out Naxxar’s game against Floriana while Hevia will miss Tarxien Rainbows’ derby clash with Hibernians with both games being played on Saturday.
