Strokes in young women and missing skull parts, sacrifices in sports and topless protestors all feature in the July issue of Pink out with The Times tomorrow.

Malta’s women’s magazine meets a young woman, who is walking again after suffering a paralysing stroke, thanks to a new and innovative rehabilitation centre that offers intense therapy.

Although she may be on her feet again, the journey to full recovery is not over yet as part of her skull sits in a fridge, waiting to be reinserted in her head after surgery to remove a tumour.

Pink also takes a cue from the upcoming London Olympics 2012 to understand the dynamics between local athletes and their mothers; the supporting role their parents play to achieve a joint and strong ambition. The LifeStyle section finds that behind every young local sportswoman is a mother they want to thank for their many sacrifices to secure their children’s success.

The magazine also catches up with the Ukrainian women’s movement, Femen, which is taking the world by storm through topless protests to raise awareness about prostitution among other issues.

The naked feminists have gone a step further from burning bras and are baring their breasts instead – an eye-catching way to send their message across. But whether it is being received they way they intend it is another story readers can figure out for themselves in Pink’s WomensWorld section.

Watch out for Laura Pausini’s thoughts on her upcoming Malta concert and her summer plans; the latest innovations and trends in health and beauty; what the coming month has in store; and how to get motivated into keeping fit at 40.

Pink is a monthly magazine, published by Allied Newspapers Ltd and printed by Progress Press and produced by Mediamaker.
