Jimmy Carter has undergone a medical procedure to remove a small mass in his liver and is expected to make a full recovery, a spokeswoman for the former president has said.
A statement released by Deanna Congileo described the operation at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, as an elective procedure. It said the procedure was done without issues, and that the prognosis for the 90-year-old “is excellent for a full recovery”.
Carter was the 39th president of the US and also a former Georgia governor.
Julia Prosser, with the publisher Simon & Schuster, said he completed a tour on Saturday promoting his latest book, A Full Life: Reflections at 90.
