My favourite newspaper dedicates a substantial portion of its page three to a pathetic piece of news about lighting a cigarette in the Parliament’s corridors. Big deal!
In the same issue I read that a government’s agency spends no less than €280,000 on an illegal façade and I ask for what earthly reason?
It beats me also to comprehend the reason behind the €2.8 million breakwater bridge that serves no real purpose.
The list is simply endless, with a third Parliament that triumphantly will house a group of people who have nothing better to do than criticise each other, a theatre costing millions of euros for fine weather, a fusillade of blue and white worms that are creating havoc on our roads, a hospital that is lacking the funds to buy more beds while the people in the echelons of power reap, almost stealthily, unrealistic rewards. I am no Dutch uncle but priorities have been forgotten and waved goodbye. The whole little country has degenerated into a real banana republic!
