Martin van Kan has been appointed area general manager for InterContinental Malta. Mr van Kan, a South African national, has been operating in the tourism industry for over 30 years.

A graduate of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, Switzerland, he has worked within the InterContinental Hotels Group since 1985. The hotels he has managed include the InterContinental Phoenicia, Beirut, and the InterContinental Al Bustan Palace, Oman. His more recent appointments include the InterContinental Shenzen and, until recently, the Fairmont the Palm, Dubai.

Here in Malta, the challenge will be different. InterContinental Malta, opened in 2003, has established itself locally and internationally as a high-quality hotel, delivering exceptional service.

Mr van Kan’s primary objective is to solidify the position of InterContinental Malta within the conference market.
