Roma striker Francesco Totti has been ruled out of tomorrow night’s Coppa Italia quarter-final trip to Fiorentina after damaging his hip flexor muscle.

The 36-year-old was forced to pull out of the starting line-up shortly before the Giallorossi suffered a 1-0 defeat at Catania on Sunday, and medical examinations have now confirmed the extent of the injury.

A statement on the Serie A club’s official website read: “Totti has undergone ultrasound and MRI scans that have detected a strained rectus femoris (in his left leg).

“The player will begin a course of therapy over the next few days and will be subjected to further tests.”

Coppa Italia QFs: Today – 9pm Inter vs Bologna. Tomorrow – 9pm Fiorentina vs Roma.
