An immigrant residing at the Marsa Open Centre was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to resisting and threatening a police officer outside the centre at 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve.

Jimale Hassan Abdullahi, 23, who is alleged to have been drunk at the time of the incident, was also accused of disobeying lawful orders, threatening another immigrant with a knife and offending public morality.

He was also charged with slightly injuring the policeman, insulting him and threatening him, as well as being intoxicated and incapable of taking care of himself and with breaching the peace.

Before Magistrate Doreen Clarke, Mr Abdullahi pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was refused bail and was remanded in custody.
