The number of full-time gainfully employed grew by 1.9 per cent and those in part-time employment by 3.6 per cent over June 2010, the National Statistics Office said.

This means there were 2,721 more people in full-time and 4,254 more people in part-time employment.

The number of full-time self-employed dropped to 17,479 and there were 2,417 more women in full-time employment.

The number of people working in the public sector also increased, up 1.7 per cent. Most increases were in health and social work.
