The horrific murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia has shocked one and all. No matter what views one held of her, a murder is always a murder. A murder that is condemned by everyone who believes and upholds democratic values.

One comes into this world bringing happiness to the parents, then one builds one’s life and has a family. A family which is wrapped up mostly by the mother. Daphne was a mother and thus it is her immediate family who mourns her demise.

Others may sympathise or appear to show it, but the brunt of the real facts is that it is her children and husband that really suffer. Not only at this tragic moment but through their remaining lives.

Caruana Galizia was extremely intelligent, globally informed and a renowned personality. She was intelligent, articulate and a very well versed writer and most of all very straight and critical in her writings. She was fluent, intelligent, forceful, sometimes bordering vindictiveness which appeared truthful in her eyes.  She criticised one and all, no matter who. Many hated her while others admired her writings. Her blog was followed by many especially from the conservative side when she criticised the Labour Party, its people and leaders. She became the idol of her followers.

Her articles continued to widen in their scope and she managed to make continuous headline scoops, especially through the Panama Papers investigations. This exceptional scoop was lapped up, followed and made use of by the Nationalist Party to attack Labour elements. Headline after headline followed until it became tiring.

This following suddenly stopped when Caruana Galizia turned her intelligent and hurtful canon writings against the main personalities of the conservative party. This is when and where her basic support started losing ground fast. She now was considered to be the enemy (?) of both political factions. In my view this was more vicious  and on the lines of what happens when two friends part ways.

In her last writings she predicted that she will reveal the criminal elements in the PN elite.  She said that she will initiate a continuous critical attack on the PN criminal elements as she had done with the Labour Party.

To insert the political elements in this brutal and merciless killing is not only condemnable but most of all contains vulgar, limitless hypocrisy

This bit of news is very interesting for an independent individual making an assessment of the facts.

Criticism now came from all sides, no matter which side one supported. Threats started appearing in all sorts of media. Threats of death also started appearing. These threats were more vicious when she continued her writings about the criminal elements in certain political quarters.

Now here is where I find it hypocritical of having some political people trying to take political advantage of her cruel murder. This from the same people that Caruana Galizia was personally criticising. This line of policy, I believe, will turn very much against those who are now trying to profit politically.

I personally believe that a pattern is now appearing in our islands.

We had about seven bomb murders in these last years. All of these had criminal connections, or at least it is so believed as nobody has been brought to justice – yet. Bombs that were set off by a remote control devise. Not in one case but in several.

This line of investigation is the one that has to be followed. To insert the political elements in this brutal and merciless killing is in my view not only condemnable but most of all contains vulgar, limitless hypocrisy.

Let’s let the professional experts do their job in a calm and normal manner as should be.

Let us mourn the loss of a fellow citizen, whether we liked personally or not. A wife and a mother. She was an exceptional woman with a huge personality and an excellent journalist. I believe no one was near her journalistic abilities and prowess.

Let us all take heed to uphold our national beliefs in the value of the truth and spread this in any way one knows how.

Let us all show our condolences and support to the Caruana Galizia family in these moments of need.
